The Baltic Way Day @Malmö

Join us for a momentous occasion commemorating the 35th anniversary of The Baltic Way Day.

On Friday, 23rd August 2024 at 16.00, join the Estonian Consulate, the Lithuanian Consulate, and the Latvian Consulate for the celebration at Stortorget in Malmö.

What is The Baltic Way Day?

On 23 August 1989, two million people held hands to form a human chain over 600 kilometres long, linking three capital cities – Tallinn in Estonia, Riga in Latvia, and Vilnius in Lithuania. This peaceful political demonstration, known as The Baltic Way, symbolised solidarity and marked a significant moment in the struggle for freedom of the Baltic States from the Soviet Union. Our intention extends beyond commemoration. We aim to stand together for peace and unity, inviting relevant representatives from Ukraine to join us in this joint manifestation.
